               PRODDATUR is the second largest town in KADAPA district in ANDHRA PRADESH state in INDIA.It got its  identity due to its GOLD & COTTON business.PRODDATUR was named by LORD SRI RAMA while he was going to SRILANKA.Population of this town is more than 3,00,000 according to the latest census report in 2011.It is a municipal corporation located 52 kms from its district head quarter KADAPA.The literacy rate  of this town is more than 65%.The town is having very good educational institutions for K.G to P.G.Official language is TELUGU.There are MUSLIMs also in this town.This town is the best example for different cultures & traditions.
                                                  
                                                      This town is also very famous for DASARA festival celebrations.In this town  there are so many templeswhich are very famous.Among them some are

1. SIVALAYAM which is located in the middle of the town.This temple is also called as                            AGASTYESWARA temple.SARASWATEE PUTRA<MAHA KAVI sri.PUTTA PARTI NARAYANAA CHAARYA wrote his famous book ''SIVA TAANDAVAM" in this temple.

2.RAAMESWARAM temple is located on the south side of the town and it is also called as "DAKSHINA KAASI".

3.AYYAPPA swamy temple which is located on the north side of the town & nearer to the river PENNA.

4.CHENNA KESAVA SWAMY temple in the street named RAJA BAATA.

5.RAJA RAJESWARI temple in SASTRI NAGAR.

6.KANYAKAA PARA MESWARI temple {ammavaari sala}located in YERRAGUNTLA road.

7.SAI BABA temple.There are 2 in town.One is on RAMESWARAM road and another one is in Y.M.R[YERRA MUNI REDDY] colony..

                                    The town consists of very good hospitals and facilities also.It is well connected to all parts of the district and to other districts also.The town is having very good transportation facilities also.There are so many private travels which are running their buses to VIJAYAWADA,HYDERABAD,CHENNAI,BANGLORE,TIRUPATI etc.The nearest railway station is YERRA GUNTLA with the distance of 13 kms.Another railway line is in under construction on the by pass road which is very nearer to the town.It is having 3 kms distance from the centre of the town in JAMMALAMADUGU road.Another survey is going on for the new line from town to KAMBHAM in PRAKASHAM district.

Tallapaka Temples

Built on the banks of River Pennar during the Vijayanagara period, Pushpagiri Temples are located 16 kms away from the city of Kadapa. Bhagavan Mahavir Government Museum
Bhagavan Mahavir Government Museum has been established by the Government to conserve the important artifacts of the primeval age. It has a collection of valued bronze icons, antediluvian stone sculptures and primitive inscriptions. The priceless artifacts peep into the ancient civilization.

Ontimitta
Ontimitta is a small town, renowned for Kodanda Rama Swami Temple. The aesthetic splendor of this temple has been mentioned in the travelogues of Tavernier, a French traveler who visited the place in 1652. Its colossal size and artistic beauty attracts people from far and wide.

Devuni Kadapa

Ankalamma Gudur

Gandikota Fort
Situated on the right banks of River Pennar, Gandikota village is renowned for its Fort. Ameen Peer Dargah
Kadapa district is a much visited destination by Muslims as well, because the well known Ameen Peer Dargah is located there. The 325 year of Dargah is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. One can witness flock of devotees especially on Thursdays and Fridays, because they visit the Dargah to seek blessings of Saint Peerullah Hussaini and Saint Arifullah Hussaini, who were buried here.

Lankamala Sanctuary
Lankamala Sanctuary, one of the major tourist attractions of Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, is spread over 464.42 sq km of area. It is about 15km away from the city of Cuddapah. The sanctuary is characterized by steep slopes and deep gorges. Waterfalls in its premises add to its picturesque beauty. It is home to a number of endemic species, while its forest consists of dry deciduous and dry evergreen shrubs.

Sri Venkateswara Wild Life Sanctuary
Located in Rajampet, Sri Venkateswara Wild Life Sanctuary is a very popular national park. It is home to rare and slender Lories. Plant species like Sandalwood, Thumbergiana, Shorea and Redsandars can be found in the sanctuary.
